somewhere I read that a competent bricklayer would lay a thousand bricks a day, at the minimum. That assumes he has had his breakfast and has come to work with the intention to make some progress which entails doing his job with patience and precision and with a certain amount of peaceful mindfulness. You already have all of those things; you have done the groundwork. Love the picture of stacked books of grist for the mill. Don't second guess the process. sometimes going a hair slower actually allows for greater production; one day may result in 800 bricks, another day may result in 5000 bricks. The literary muse is not a machine, but a monarch butterfly which travels far but not necessarily always in a straight line...perhaps taking some refreshment along the way, as opportunities present themselves.
The best advice I've ever heard for writing fiction is: "Good writing should surprise the author."
That gave me the freedom to write my first book.
This is awesome. Thanks for sharing bud.
Excited for you.
“ It’s always a little embarrassing when you realize your self-image doesn’t match up to reality.” Amen brother.
